Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1½ cups marinara sauce
  • 1½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook pasta in salted water until just under al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil. Sauté onion until soft, add garlic, and cook 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground meat. Cook until browned. Drain fat.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, marinara, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Mix cooked pasta with sauce and ricotta in a large bowl.
  6. Transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  8. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.
