1½–2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
¼ cup hoisin sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium)
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tbsp rice vinegar or Shaoxing wine
1 tsp Chinese five spice powder
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp grated ginger
½ tsp sesame oil
(Optional) 2–3 drops red food coloring
Instructions
In a bowl, mix hoisin, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, five spice, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and coloring.
Add chicken and toss to coat. Marinate 1 hour or overnight.
Cook chicken by roasting at 400°F for 30–35 minutes, grilling 5–6 minutes per side, or pan-searing. Baste with marinade during final minutes.
Broil or sear briefly for sticky glaze. Let rest, slice, and serve.
