Garlic Parmesan Orzo Pasta is a creamy, one-pot side dish made with buttery orzo, fresh garlic, and melted Parmesan. A comforting, quick-cooking favorite that pairs with everything.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant (1–2 minutes).
  2. Stir in orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes until slightly golden.
  3. Add 2½ cups broth and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring often, until orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed (10–12 minutes).
  4. Stir in Parmesan and cream (if using). Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add more broth as needed for creaminess. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use warm broth for quicker cooking.
  • Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  • Add lemon, spinach, or mushrooms for variation.
