A hearty, comforting casserole made with seasoned ground beef, tender cabbage, tomatoes, and optional rice or cheese. Easy to make, budget-friendly, and perfect for family dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ medium green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed or diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1½ cups cooked rice (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cups shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil, for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Sauté beef, onion, garlic, and seasonings until browned.
  3. Add tomatoes, paste, and rice (if using). Simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Layer half the cabbage in dish, then half the meat mixture. Repeat.
  5. Top with cheese if desired. Cover with foil.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10–15 minutes more.
  7. Rest 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve.

Notes

Use cauliflower rice for low-carb. Add veggies like mushrooms or bell pepper for variation. Freezes well after baking.
