A sweet, savory, and satisfying Korean-inspired ground beef bowl made in just one skillet. Perfect over rice with customizable toppings and done in 20 minutes.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp oil (vegetable or sesame)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
23 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 tsp sesame oil
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes or gochugaru (optional)
2 green onions, sliced
Cooked rice, for serving
Optional toppings: fried egg, sesame seeds, cucumber, carrots, kimchi

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in skillet over medium-high. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain fat if needed.
  2. Add garlic and ginger. Cook 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper.
  4. Pour sauce into skillet. Simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Stir in half the green onions.
  6. Serve beef over hot rice with desired toppings.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and remaining onions.

Notes

Use ground turkey for a leaner option. Swap rice for cauliflower rice for low-carb version.
