Lemon Basil Pasta features tender pasta tossed in a light lemon and olive oil sauce with fresh basil and Parmesan for a bright, refreshing meal.
12 ounces spaghetti or pasta of choice
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
Zest of 1 lemon
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Optional red pepper flakes
1. Cook pasta until al dente, reserving 1 cup pasta water.
2. Sauté garlic in olive oil until fragrant.
3. Add lemon zest and stir briefly.
4. Toss pasta with garlic oil and reserved pasta water.
5. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and Parmesan.
6. Add basil and season to taste.
7. Serve immediately.
Use fresh lemon for best flavor.
Add pasta water gradually for smooth sauce.
Garnish with extra basil and cheese.
