A creamy, tangy salad combining broccoli, cheddar, bacon, and a homemade ranch dressing. Perfect for potlucks or as a fresh side dish.

4 cups fresh broccoli florets
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup dried cranberries (optional)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons buttermilk
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut broccoli into bite-sized florets. Blanch if desired.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine broccoli, cheese, bacon, red onion, sunflower seeds, and cranberries.
  4. Pour dressing over the mixture and toss gently.
  5. Refrigerate 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Garnish with extra cheddar, bacon, or herbs if desired.

Notes

Add crunchy toppings just before serving to preserve texture. Adjust seasoning to taste.
