Slow-cooked butter chicken made in a crockpot with tender chicken simmered in a creamy tomato and spice sauce for a simple weeknight meal.

Ingredients

2 pounds chicken thighs or breasts
3 tablespoons butter
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place onion, garlic, and chicken in crockpot.
  2. Mix tomato sauce, paste, and spices, then pour over chicken.
  3. Add butter and broth. Cook on low 6–7 hours or high 3–4 hours.
  4. Stir in cream near the end and cook 15–20 minutes more.
  5. Serve warm with rice or bread.

Adjust cream or broth for preferred sauce thickness and choose chicken thighs for softer texture.
